KELLY DELANEY WINS ‘ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR’ AWARD
Gourmet Bakery Owner Gets Nod from New England Women Business Owners
DANVERS, Mass (May 15, 2008) – Kelly Delaney, owner of Cakes for Occasions in Danvers, was recognized by New England Women Business Owners (NEWBO) with the Quest award for “Entrepreneur of the Year” at a banquet held at the Fairmont Copley Plaza last night. Delaney, who has grown her business from a single oven in her mother’s kitchen to a million-dollar pastry empire, was honored to receive such a distinction.
“It is so rewarding to be recognized by a group of my peers,” said Delaney. “These are people I respect and admire. I was among a group of very impressive finalists. The award is very meaningful to me.”
NEWBO is the first organization of its kind in the country and the award, one of seven that were handed out, is their highest honor. The banquet attracted hundreds of distinguished business owners and their guests from Greater Boston and beyond.
Delaney’s reputation as a successful entrepreneur, business expert and philanthropist all helped to earn her the distinction. She has earned her place as a respected resource for issues ranging from managing steady growth and using innovation to stay competitive to leveraging media opportunities and cutting costs.
