North Shore Gourmet Cake & Pastry Shop, "Cakes For Occassions" To Be Featured On Nbc's Today Show
Cake Created By Owner, Kelly Delaney One Of Four Finalists In "Today Throws A Destination Wedding" Contest
DANVERS, MA- On Wednesday, October 20, 2004, a wedding cake created by Cakes For Occasions of Danvers, Massachusetts will be in the national spotlight as one of only four cakes to be featured on NBC's Today Show during its weekly segment, "Today Throws a Destination Wedding."
"We were thrilled when we received a call from a Today Show producer informing us that they had visited our web site and selected our cake as one of four finalists for the couple getting married on their show," said Kelly Delaney, owner of Cakes For Occasions. "My husband Frank and I watch this feature on the show every year and always hoped to be a part of it."
For the first time, the wedding will take place at a destination voted on by Today Show viewers instead of at the studio in New York. Viewers picked Cap Juluca, in Anguilla, the British West Indies as the wedding locale for the lucky couple. The wedding cake designed by Cakes For Occasions is a traditional four tiers with a satin rolled fondant, but in keeping with the vibrant ocean theme, has a sugared pearl design and is adorned with exquisite tropical seashells.
Kelly Delaney has put her own unique twist on the traditional French Opera Cake. This decadent creation consists of three layers of moist chocolate cake which are infused with espresso. Each layer of cake is filled with one layer of rich chocolate granache, a second layer of mocha cream and finished with a vanilla buttercream frosting. When served, the slice of cake is plated along with a white chocolate sea shell embossed with gold.
"Not only does the cake look beautiful, it tastes amazing," said Delaney. "At Cakes For Occasions we use only the finest ingredients and take great pride in everything we create. If our cake is selected, I'm confident that the bride and groom will be as delighted as the thousands of other couples that have served cakes from us."
