Massachusetts Gourmet Cake & Pastry Shop, "Cakes For Occasions" Featured On Nbc's Today Show
Come Taste The Cake On Saturday, October 23rd
DANVERS, MA- On Wednesday, October 20, 2004, a wedding cake created by Cakes For Occasions of Danvers, Massachusetts was in the national spotlight as one of only four cakes featured on NBC's Today Show during its weekly segment, "Today Throws a Destination Wedding."
"It was so exciting to see our cake on the Today Show and have co-host Katie Couric taste it with the bride and groom," said Kelly Delaney, owner of Cakes For Occasions. "We hope that everyone will take the time to vote for our cake on the Today Show web site and come to our store to try it."
The cake was selected by Today Show producers to go with the island themed wedding, which will take place in Cap Juluca, in Anguilla, the British West Indies in November. Designed by Kelly Delaney of Cakes For Occasions, it is a traditional four tiers with a satin rolled fondant, but in keeping with the vibrant ocean theme, has a sugared pearl design and is adorned with exquisite tropical seashells.
Kelly Delaney has put her own unique twist on the traditional French Opera Cake. This decadent creation consists of three layers of moist chocolate cake which are infused with espresso. Each layer of cake is filled with one layer of rich chocolate granache, a second layer of mocha cream and finished with a vanilla buttercream frosting. When served, the slice of cake is plated along with a white chocolate sea shell embossed with gold.
"We are so proud of this cake and so thrilled to be part of this process that we want everyone to see and try it," said Delaney. "We are inviting any one who wants to taste the cake that was featured on the Today Show to come to our store, Cakes For Occasions, this Saturday from Noon - 2:00pm."
To view the cake and vote in the Today Show contest go to the Today Show web site at www.today.msnbc.com. The cake by Cakes For Occasions is choice #1.
