Danvers Bakery Featured on New England Cable News' TV Diner with Billy Costa
Cakes for Occasions continues to wow television audiences
Danvers, MA (August 21, 2006) - Cakes for Occasions, the Danvers-based bakery recently chosen by Today show viewers for its winning wedding cake, is wowing television audiences again with an appearance this week on NECN's TV Diner with Billy Costa.
Cakes for Occasions owners Kelly and Frank Delaney were chosen to participate in a "family-run business" show, where they showcased their award winning pastries and cakes, including the "Pearls & Shells" wedding cake that took first place in a national competition for Today's Destination Wedding in Anguilla. The local couple also provided a glimpse inside their bakery and retail outlet at 57 Maple Street in Danvers and showed off their latest confections, including their new line of trendy pocketbook cakes.
"It was exciting to be selected for the show," said Kelly Delaney. "We've been fans of TV Diner for a long time, but we could not have imagined the kind of response our appearance would generate. The phones have been ringing off the hook with well-wishers and new orders since the show's first airing on Saturday morning."
Delaney, who received her culinary education from the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland and the Cordon Bleu in London, opened Cakes for Occasions 10 years ago and is well-known for her intricately designed cakes and sinfully delicious desserts. She currently employs 15 pastry chefs who hand-craft nearly 700 wedding cakes per year!
Her new line of pocketbook cakes is hugely popular, mirroring today's hot accessory trend. She has created designer look-alike bags for everyone from tweens and young girls to women hosting showers and purse parties.
Delaney's desserts are what she calls "uniquely yours," meaning she will customize your confection to your tastes and preferences, and it will always be the hit of the party.
