Our featured charity for the month of July is a leading cancer institute in Boston. Each summer a team of runners is put together to participate in the Falmouth Road Race, a 7-mile scenic route along Cape Cod, with one goal in mind: Reaching the Ultimate Finish Line: A World Without Cancer. As part of this team, runners not only lace up their running sneakers in support of the leading cancer institute, but they raise money to support cancer care and research.

For the third summer, Cakes for Occasions’ Marketing Coordinator, Lynne Sheeley, will be lacing up her running sneakers and participating in support of Boston’s leading cancer institute and will help raise funds for cancer care and research.

Why does Lynne run? Lynne runs in honor of her late mother-in-law, Judy Sheeley, who battled cancer but unfortunately passed away from the disease in 2004. Having never met her mother-in-law, running and raising money in support of cancer care and research is important to Lynne and her family, as they and many others hope that one day there will be in fact a world without cancer.

Cakes for Caring is offering two delicious cupcakes for this fundraiser-Honey Cinnamon and Chocolate Marshmallow. The cupcakes are selling for $2.50 each. Cakes for Caring will donate $1.00 from the sale of each cupcake to support Lynne in her efforts to raise money and run for cancer care and research.

Supporting this cause means continuing to help a leading cancer institute in Boston provide cancer patients with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research.
