Baker cooks up resume cookies, biz card treats: Sweet-talk your way to a job

If you were looking for a job 20 years ago, your choices for resume paper and matching envelopes would have been dizzying. You’d be confronted with a full rainbow spectrum of light blues, greys, browns, beiges and pinks – and more shades of white than you’d find at the paint shop. Today, consider yourself lucky if your office supply store stocks anything at all. At a time when most job applications are submitted electronically, pastry chef Kelly Delaney is hoping the printed resume makes one last stand. She uses food coloring ink on edible sugar paper and embeds your career highlights into an 8 -by-11-inch iced sugar dough cookie. (more…)

Cakes for Occasions Featured on Fox 25 Morning News’ Zip Trip to Danvers
On Friday, August 21, 2009 the morning crew at Fox 25 News took their Zip Trip to Danvers. Cakes for Occasions was asked to be featured on the Zip Trip which took place on the lawn at the Danvers library. We created a tiered cake specifically for the Zip Trip that featured spots in and around Danvers along with the personalities on the morning show. We also show cased our new line of whoopie pies. In addition, owner Kelly Delaney was interviewed by Gene Lavanchy, of Fox 25 Morning News, and discussed our specialty in custom designing cakes and our new line of whoopie pies. (more…)
Kelly Delaney Presents Joe Kennedy with a Check from Cakes for Caring for Citizen’s Energy
Through Cakes for Occasions’ Cakes for Caring cupcake fundraising program, $500 was raised for Citizen’s Energy during the month of February. On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, Kelly Delaney presented Joe Kennedy with a check for $500 for the Citizen’s Energy oil heat program. The money raised through Cakes for Caring will go toward five deliveries of 100 gallons each of oil to different homes. Cakes for Occasions was proud to help raise money and support Citizen’s Energy through their Cakes for Caring fundraising program. Giving has never tasted so good!
The table is set for tea and the guests, a friendly stuffed white bear and a lovely little doll, seem ready to take a sip out of a dainty cup and nibble on one of the pastel frosted cupcakes decorated with an adorable princess ring or a beautiful butterfly.

Cakes for Occasions Provides Desserts for Kiss 108 2008 Jingle Ball Concert
Cakes for Occasions was selected by Kiss 108 to provide a variety of desserts for their 2008 Jingle Ball Concert. The concert was held on Thursday, December 12, 2008 at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell. Cakes for Occasions provided an assortment of cupcakes, cookies, and pastries for the Matty in the Morning VIP party and the artists’ lounge. In addition, Cakes for Occasions created a special Kiss 108 cake exclusively for Jingle Ball 2008.
